President Sahle-Work Zewde visits East Africa Pastoralist Expo
Addis Ababa, January 30, 2024 (FBC) – The President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Sahle-Work Zewde, today visited the East Africa Pastoralist Expo which is being held from January 26 to February 1, 2024 at the Millennium Hall, Addis Ababa.
Note that the Expo was opened on January 26, 2024. The opening event was attended by, Speaker of the House of Peoples Representatives, Mr. Tagesse Chaffo, the Irrigation and Lowlands Minister, Aysha Mohammed and representatives of pastoralists in the East Africa region. Members of the diplomatic community in Addis Ababa, representatives of IGAD member countries and international organizations and partners were also in attendance of the event.
Since its opening day, the Expo has drawn thousands of visitors, including ministers, other senior government officials, scholars, development partners, and residents of Addis Ababa.
FBC can confirm that President Shale-Work Zewde, Minister of Finance Mr. Ahmed Shide, the Director-General of the National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS) Mr. Temesgen Truneh, the Minister of Transport and Logistics Alemu Simie,
It is said that the main purpose of the expo is for East African herdsmen to share their experiences and the ways they have gone through, and to solve their common problems.
Organized for the first time in Addis Ababa by the Ministry of Irrigation and Lowlands (MILLs), the Expo is believed to serve as a good platform for the IGAD member countries to share experiences among one another. It is being held under the theme “Pastoralism: the East African Mosaic”.
