President Sahle Work Zewde receives a present from FIFA

Addis Ababa, November 6,, 2022 (FBC) – The FDRE President Sahle-Work Zewde received and spoke to FIFA Secretary General Fatma Samura who is on a working visit to Addis Ababa and Dire-Dawa.

As the Secretary General has done in the past, she handed over more than 800 different types of football equipment that are being used worldwide.

She also presented the 2022 FIFA World Cup official match ball bearing the name of president Sahle-Work.

The Secretary-General stated that FIFA is trying to promote football sports in schools to improve the low value given to sports and civic education during the restructuring of world governments in the 90s.

The FDRE President, Sahle-Work, on her part, expressed that there is a strong relationship between Ethiopia and FIFA. She thanked FIFA for the support being given to girls and boys, including football stadiums.

The President’s Office revealed that President Sahle-Work has previously donated football equipment to about 600 low-income youths with support from FIFA.
