President pays condolence visit to Burundian Embassy

Addis Ababa, June 12, 2020 (FBC) -President Sahle-Work Zewde visited the Embassy of Burundi in Addis Ababa to pay her respects to the late President Pierre Nkurunziza, who died last Monday.

The late President Nkurunziza, aged 55, died after suffering a cardiac arrest.

He was admitted to hospital on Saturday after feeling unwell, his condition improved but on Monday he had a cardiac arrest and efforts to revive him were unsuccessful, officials say.

After 15 years in power, Nkurunziza was due to step down in August.
