President Sahle-Work calls for support to Ethiopian football prodigy

Addis Ababa, January 5, 2023 (FBC) – The FDRE President, Sahle-Work Zewde called for support to the young Ethiopian prodigy, Dagmawi Tewodros, in order to nurture his football skills.

President Sahle-Work received 12-year-old Dagmawi Tewodros alongside his father Tewodros Bacha at her office and held brief discussion.

It was stated in the discussion that the teenager has been developing his football skills since childhood and is working hard with his father to realize his dream of becoming a world class professional footballer.

Following the invitation from FIFA, both Dagmawi and his father Tewodros have attended the 2018 and 2022 FIFA Wold Cup tournaments, held in Russia and Qatar, respectively

It is said that he initiated the two-birr ball-juggling challenge and raised massive money for the Children’s Heart Fund in Ethiopia through his keepy-uppy skill.

According to the Office of the President’s social media post, the teenager has registered 974 ball-juggling without stopping during the recent FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

President Sahle-Work encouraged the development of the football skills of the boy, calling on everyone concerned to back him as the most important option is to join a football academy to realize his dreams.
