President Sahle-Work calls for due care, support to the elderly
Addis Ababa, October 11, 2022 (FBC) – FDRE President Sahle-Work Zewde said that the elderly who owe the country should be given proper attention, respect, support and care.
The Day of the Elderly was celebrated for the 31st time in Ethiopia with various events under the theme of “Ethiopianism Legacy of the Elderly to the Future Trust”.
President Sahle-Work, who attended the ceremony, stated that “the government will focus on solving the challenges facing the elderly.”
Apart from the efforts being made by the government, She also called on everyone to be involved and play their part in the efforts to solve the challenges of the elderly.
The Minister of Women and Social Affairs, Ergoge Tesfaye, and other representatives of charitable institutions washed the feet of the elderly to express their respect for them.
She pointed out that the construction of a national multi-purpose center for the elderly in Lemi-Kura sub-city on 6,418 square meters is underway.
The invited guests and stakeholders attended the event.
The Ministry stated on its social media platforms that recognition and certificates of appreciation were given to institutions that contributed significantly to ensuring the benefit of the elderly.
