President receives credentials of seven newly appointed ambassadors

Addis Ababa, December 22, 2020 (FBC) – President Sahle-Work Zewde today received the credentials of seven newly appointed Asian and African ambassadors to Ethiopia.

The ambassadors who presented their credentials are Ambassador Robert Shetkintong of India, Ambassador ITO Takako of Japan, Ambassador Zhao Zhiyuan of China, Ambassador Shozab Abbas of Pakistan, Ambassador Kang Seokhee of South Korea, Ambassador Abdelhamid Gharbi of Tunisia, and Ambassador Taonga Mushayavanhu of Zimbabwe.

Speaking on the occasion, President Sahle-Work reiterated Ethiopia’s keen interest in scaling up bilateral relations with the respective countries.

Commending the benefits of forming strategic partnerships with some of these countries, the President expressed hope that the others would also follow suit.

President Sahle-Work also briefed the ambassadors on current developments in the Tigray region, including the restoration, rehabilitation, and humanitarian assistance activities.

The ambassadors, on their part, congratulated Ethiopia for successfully completing the operation in Tigray, according of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
