President Lula affirms Brazil’s commitment to bolster cooperation with Africa
Addis Ababa, February 17, 2024 (FBC) – In his keynote speech at the 37th Orinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union, the Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva underscored that ”there is no a Global South without the African continent.”
Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva mentioned Africa as a key partner for South-South cooperation.
“My friends I would like to say that there is no global south without the African continent,” he underlined.
To go back and reclaim the ties between Brazil and Africa, President Lula da Silva said that the two sides would contribute more for the world to be fair.
Africa has immense potential in many areas, he pointed out, pledging the commitment of his government to looking forward to consolidating cooperation with the continent.
Citing the new multipolar order as the best approach for the 21st century, the president noted that BRICS is the space of the emerging countries and undeniable advancement.
Africa is an important part of the world to the global south, he said, stressing the need to build an inclusive social project for a prosperous society that is free, democratic and sovereign.
The presence of the African Union as a full member of the G20 will be of great value, adding the need to add more countries to the bloc.
“Brazil wants to grow together with Africa, but without dictating paths to anyone,” he underscored.
“I come to reaffirm the partnership and bond between our country and our people with this sister continent. The African struggle has a lot in common with the challenges in Brazil. We, Africans and Brazilians, need to chart our own paths in the emerging international order. We need to create new global governance, capable of facing the challenges of our time,” President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva added.
