President calls for participation of private sector in addressing urban housing shortage

Addis Ababa, May 28, 2021 (FBC) – President Sahle-Work Zewde has called up on investors to participate in the urban housing development sector thereby address housing shortage in cities.

The President who presided over the launch of Selam Mortgage Bank, the President urged the private investment sector community to contribute their share in tackling housing shortage in the country.

Ethipia needs more Mortgage financial institutions like Selam Bank to meet the growing housing demand, the President noted.

Public servants and other medium income residents are not capable of affording quality houses, said the president, calling the private sector operators to tap opportunities facilitated by the government and play their share in realizing better living environment in cities.
