Premier visits construction of public restrooms under ‘Clean Ethiopia’ initiative
Addis Ababa, July 11, 2024 (FBC) – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) today conducted an on-site visit to evaluate the progress of the construction of public toilets under the “Clean Ethiopia” initiative.
This initiative, initiated by the Prime Minister himself in April 2024, is centered on the theme “Clean Streets – Healthy Lives” and seeks to address the scarcity of public toilets in Addis Ababa and other urban areas in the country. On that occasion, Prime Minister Abiy unveiled plans to construct modern, clean, and dignified public restrooms, with a strong emphasis on community involvement in their construction.
Since the inception of the “Clean Ethiopia” initiative, citizens both at home and abroad, as well as various institutions, have responded to the Prime Minister’s call for contribution towards the construction of these public restrooms.
Over the past few months, efforts to build these public restrooms have been significantly intensified.
In this regard, the Prime Minister confirmed this morning on social media that he conducted an on-site visit to assess the progress of the construction of public restrooms in the capital.
During his on-site visit, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed emphasized the enthusiastic response from citizens to the “Clean Ethiopia” initiative, which aims to revolutionize the culture of toilet usage by creating a welcoming environment.
He noted that the initiative has made significant progress possible through the invaluable contributions and trust of the citizens.
By using durable materials and ensuring high-quality finishing, the Prime Minister is committed to building up-to-standard public toilets.
He further stated that this is just the beginning, and with “your continued support, we aim to expand this initiative nationwide.”
