Premier hosts special Iftar dinner for refugees at the newly renovated National Palace

Addis Ababa, March 16, 2025 (FMC) — Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) hosted a special Iftar dinner for refugees protected in Ethiopia this evening.

On the occasion, the Prime Minister welcomed around 200 refugees from various countries, symbolizing the spirit of solidarity, love and shared humanity during the month of Ramadan.

The group who participated in the Iftar dinner also had the opportunity to tour the newly restored National Palace, according to the Office of the Prime Minister.

It is learned that the event is a good reminder of Ethiopia’s enduring commitment, to supporting displaced communities, offering them hope and dignity amidst the challenges they face.

The gathering of individuals from diverse backgrounds underscored the importance of inclusivity, unity and collective responsibility in addressing global humanitarian crises.

This also stands as a testament to Ethiopia’s leadership in extending a helping hand to those in need, reinforcing the values of kindness, empathy and togetherness.

It is to be recalled that Ethiopia is home to more than 1.1 million refugees and asylum seekers fleeing man-made and natural calamities from neighbouring countries and beyond, according t a data shared by the Director General of Refugees and Returnees Service (RRS) of Ethiopia, Ms. Teyiba Hassen.
