Premier Abiy, American tech tycoon Bill Gates visit wheat cluster farm in East Shewa Zone
Addis Ababa, September 2, 2024 (FBC) – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and Bill Gates, Chair and Trustee of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, today visited a wheat cluster farm in Dugda Woreda, East Shewa Zone, and the Adama Investment Group Poultry Farm.
According to the Office of the Prime Minister, the visit aims to witness the milestones that have been achieved in Ethiopia’s self-sufficiency goals.
It was also indicated that the primary goal of Bill Gates’ visit is to engage deeply with and gain a comprehensive understanding of developments in Ethiopia’s key sectors, including agriculture, health, financial inclusion, and the broader Digital Public Infrastructure agenda.
During his meeting with Bill Gates, Premier Abiy expressed his appreciation to the Microsoft co-founder for the continued support through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in advancing Ethiopia’s efforts in agriculture, health, and financial inclusion.
Since 2018, the foundation has made investments in supporting Ethiopian agriculture, as per the PM Office.
