Political Parties Joint Council lauds agricultural activities in southern Ethiopia
Addis Ababa, October 26, 2022 (FBC) – The Ethiopian Political Parties Joint Council has lauded agricultural activities in southern Ethiopia.
Chairperson of the Council Mebratu Melese (PhD) and other leaders of contending parties in Ethiopia visited wheat, bean and teff crops cluster farming fields in Sodo Woreda of Gurage Zone in Southern Nations Nationalities and Peoples (SNNP) Region.
Head of Agriculture Bureau of SNNP and Coordinator of the Rural Cluster Coordinator in the region, Ousman Surur was in the company of the delegation of the council.
According to the Office of the SNNP Region Prosperity Party, out of the total 49,000 ha of land covered with various crops in Gurage Zone, 80 percent has been cultivated by cluster farming. And, 60pct of the total land cultivated with mechanization system.
Ousman asked leaders of political parties to contribute their share in supporting development endeavors in the agriculture and other sectors regardless of their disparities.
Head of the Council, Mebratu Melese (PhD), for his part, lauded the achievements gained in the region as a testimony to the fact that the sector is serving as backbone of the economy of the country. Mebratu further called of enhanced leadership in the agriculture sector to build on the results.
