Police announces road closure for Sunday’s Great Ethiopian Run 2022
Addis Ababa, November 18, 2022 (FBC) – The Addis Ababa Police announced several road closures that will occur for most of Sunday as the city hosts the Great Ethiopian Run International 2022.
The Great Ethiopian Run International 10km is a flagship event held every year involving more than 45,000 percipients from all corners of the world.
The Great Run will start at Meskel Square and end at the same place covering places including Buna Ina Shay, Balcha Curve, Geja locality, 5th Crossroad, Areqe Fabrica, Mexico, Senga Tera, National Theatre, Harambe Hotel, Fil Wuha, Kazanchis, St. Urael Church and Bambis localities.
Therefore, the road from Megenagna to Meskel Square will be closed at Haya Hulet and Zerihun Bldg. The road that leads to St. Urael Church from Bole Medhanealem will be closed at Atlas Light. The Highway stretches towards Meskel Square from Gotera Intercept will be shut down for heavy trucks at Agona Cinema and near to Former 4th Battalion for light vehicles. Road heading to Mexico will be closed at the traffic light near to the African Union Headquarters.
Highway from Tor Hailoch to Mexico will be closed at Federal Supreme Court and Nur Bldg. areas. And the road from Churchil Avenue to Legehar will be closed at the place around Immigration, and the one from Arat Kilo to Foreign Affairs Minister will be shut down at the traffic light around the Parliament Hall and Arogew Kera areas, according to police. The Road closure will start from early morning at 5:00 AM till the race concludes, Police said.
