Poland seeks to strengthen economic partnership with Ethiopia
Addis Ababa, July 8, 2024 (FBC) – Poland is working to enhance its cooperation with Ethiopia across various fields, including the economy, according to Przemysław Bobak, the Polish Ambassador to Ethiopia.
Although relations between Ethiopia and Poland began in the 1920s, official diplomatic ties were established in 1945. Emperor Haile Selassie I’s visit to Poland in 1963 is considered a significant milestone in elevating the relationship between the two nations.
Since then, bilateral discussions and high-level government visits have further strengthened the ties between the countries.
Notably, former Ethiopian President Dr. Mulatu Teshome visited Poland, while Polish President Andrzej Duda traveled to Ethiopia for mutual consultations on shared interests.
Subsequently, the relationship between the two countries has been steadily strengthening through various bilateral discussions and high-level government official visits conducted over time.
According to information from the Polish Embassy in Addis Ababa, the two countries have been collaborating in political, economic, and social spheres. Ambassador Przemysław Bobak stated that efforts are underway to further reinforce this long-standing partnership across various areas of cooperation, called by ENA.
The ambassador highlighted numerous opportunities for collaboration between Poland and Ethiopia in technology, science, culture and arts, infrastructure, and other sectors.
He also emphasized the significance of Ethiopian Airlines’ recent launch of direct flights to Warsaw, Poland’s capital, in boosting trade and investment ties between the two nations.
Ambassador Bobak noted that while the two countries currently enjoy strong political cooperation, there is a focused effort to prioritize strengthening economic partnerships and people-to-people relations.
