PM’s taskforce takes over law, security enforcement mission in Metekel

Addis Ababa, December 28, 2020 (FBC) – The national taskforce established by Prime Minister Abiy ahmed has taken over law and security enforcement mission in Metekel, Benshangul Gumuz region.

The taskforce which includes high ranking government officials and top military officers of the National Defense Force as members has started operation in the Zone which has recently witnessed a communal violence that left close to 100 civilians dead and some others displaced.

Commander of the security taskforce, Lt.-Gen Asrat Denero said that hunt is continuing in line with bringing the perpetrators of killings of civilians to justice.

“Culprits who are suspected over the atrocity will be bright to justice soon.” the commander expressed confidence.

According to Lt.-Gen Asrat, activities are underway to rehabilitate the displaced and normalize the situation in the area.
