PM says Public institutions will be opened on Saturday to make up hours of Election Day
Addis Ababa, June 25, 2021 (FBC) – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has today announced Saturday, first day of the weekend, to be a public working day in a bid to make up Monday working hours that were dedicated to the 6th general elections.
The Premier stated that all public institutions will be opened tomorrow and provide all the necessary services to their customers.
“Last week we had announced that this Saturday will be a working day in lieu of Government Offices closing on Monday for the 6th National Elections. Therefore, I would like to remind all Government Offices to remain open tomorrow and provide services.” Said the Premier.
Ethiopia’s concluded general election is the first poll to be held in a public working day for the previous ones took place in the weekend. Chairperson of Electoral Board of Ethiopia, Birtukan Mideksa said Ethiopians should take polling days as working day major events and dedicate the weekend for their social relations.
It is to be recalled that the Prime Minister On June 15, 2021 announced that Saturday would be a working day to compensate time to be dedicated for the national elections say.
