PM returns home after concluding visit to three African states
Addis Ababa, January 13, 2020 (FBC) –Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed has returned home after concluding his visit to three African states.
During his visit, the Prime Minister held bilateral talks with leaders of the three countries as well as visited various sites.
In Republic of Guinea, the Prime Minister met with President Alpha Conde and visited Port of Conakry.
The two leaders also agreed to activate the partnership in the areas of agriculture, tourism, mining and energy.
From Republic of Guinea, the Prime Minister travelled to Equatorial Guinea and held discussion with President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo.
They exchanged views on how to strengthen relations between the two countries. The Prime Minister also visited the country’s oil refinery and riverside development project.
President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo also honoured the Ethiopian Prime Minister with Equatorial Guinea’s highest national accolade in recognition for his contribution for peace at home and the African continent.
In South Africa, he attended the 108th anniversary celebrations of the African National Congress (ANC) held in Kimberley.
He also met with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa to discuss on bilateral, continental and global issues of common interest.
The two leaders witnessed the signing of an agreement and two memoranda of understanding.
The Prime Minister further addressed Ethiopian nationals residing in South Africa.
In his speech to the crowd gathered at the Imperial Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, he said the South African Government had agreed to address problems facing Ethiopians residing in that country.
