PM names a recruitment committee for nomination of NEBE chairperson

Addis Ababa, November 6, 2023 (FBC) – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) has named an eight-member recruitment committee to engage in the recruitment of nominee to the position of Chairperson of the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE).

The recruitment committee which has been made operational recently will start receiving proposition from the public.

In accordance with Article 102 of the Constitution and the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia Establishment Proclamation No 1133/2019, the Prime Minister shall establish an independent committee that will engage in the recruitment of nominees to membership of the management board.

Accordingly; Kesis Tagay Tadelle has been appointed as Chairman of the Committee whereas Prefessor Teketel Yohannes, Mr. Bayuh Bezabih, Yohannes Benti (PhD), Mr. Kasahun Folo, Mrs. Rigbe Gebrehawaria, Mrs. Engidaye Eshetie, Engineer Melaku Ezezew have been selected as members.

It is to be recalled that former Chairperson of NEBE, Birtukan Midekssa resigned from the post on 26 June 2023.
