PM expresses condolences over death of Tanzania’s president

Addis Ababa, March 18, 2021 (FBC) –Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has expressed his condolences over the passing of Tanzania’s President John Pombe Magufuli.

“My sincere condolences to the people and Government of Tanzania on the passing of President John Pombe Magufuli. May he Rest in Peace,” he tweeted.

President Magufuli died on Wednesday at the age of 61 from heart complications at a hospital in Dar es Salaam.

Magufuli had not been seen in public for more than two weeks, and rumours have been circulating about his health.

Opposition politicians said last week that he had contracted COVID-19, but this has not been confirmed.
