Addis Ababa, June 27, 2024 (FBC) – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) today inaugurated the renovated Mexico Square-Sar Bet area route, which is renovated under the Addis Ababa Corridor Development Project.
“Today, we inaugurated the second corridor area from Mexico to Sar Bet, marking a key milestone in our city-building efforts. Enhancing infrastructure, workmanship, walkways, and vehicle paths are essential to our urban growth,” the Prime Minister stated on social media after commissioning the newly renovated route.
“Demolishing shanty parts of our cities is a necessary step for a better future for generations. We must not grow comfortable with them. Sustaining our progress is critical as our city’s growth is just beginning. With our collective efforts, we can achieve a brighter future,” he added.
Note that the Premier also recently inaugurated the Piassa-Arat Kilo route which is developed by the capital’s ongoing mega project.
The government started the corridor development project in Addis Ababa city a few months ago with the aim to modernize the capital and make it a more welcoming city to its residents and visitors alike.
The project is also being implemented in other cities and towns across Ethiopia. Bahir Dar and Arba Minch cities have become the first cities to follow suit Addis Ababa in implementing the project.
