PM Abiy commends 1st phase corridor dev’t work in Hawasa city
Addis Ababa, December 10, 2024 (FMC) — Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) stated that Hawassa Corridor represents a continuation of the urban development efforts initiated in Addis Ababa, with a distinct approach that sets it apart.
The Prime Minister, together with first lady Zinash Tayachew and senior government officials as well as residents of the city, reviewed the first phase of Corridor Development Works project which is believed to be completed. The first phase of redevelopment and corridor work is expected to be inaugurated today.
“Its unique features, such as wider walkways, dedicated bike paths, and the use of locally manufactured smart lighting, highlight innovation and sustainability,” PM Abiy said in a social media post this morning after reviewing the corridor development works in the city.
However, urbanization is not solely the responsibility of the government—it requires active community involvement to succeed, Abiy emphasized.
“While progress has been made, much remains to be done to complete these transformative projects. As a vast and resource-rich nation,” he underscored.
The Premier added that Ethiopia has immense potential, and it is time for all Ethiopians to recognize this and take action to realize it.
