PM Abiy attends the 2015 E.C taxpayer recognition, award program

Addis Ababa, October 12, 2023 (FBC) – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) attended the 2015 Ethiopian calendar fiscal year taxpayer recognition and award program to honour taxpayers who faithfully performed their national duty, the Office of the Prime Minister confirmed.

During his remarks, the Prime Minister called upon the private sector and other sections of society to support initiatives to improve the revenue base, restrain from corruption, contraband and illegality by insuring order, predictability and accountability. Government offices in charge shall modernise the tax payment system and procedures.

He also encouraged the private sector to introduce new technology to their works in modernising their endeavours.

It is learned that in the 2015 fiscal year, the total planned revenue stood at 450 billion birr while performance stood at 442 billion birr. The share of revenue from tax collection was 264.35 billion birr. About 500 taxpayers have been awarded under today’s recognition program.
