PM Abiy returns home after concluding his meetings in Türkiye

Addis Ababa, December 12, 2024 (FMC) — Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, having concluded his meetings in Türkiye, has arrived in Ethiopia this morning, the Office of the Prime Minister said.

Recall that Prime Minister Abiy and his delegation traveled to Ankara, Türkiye, on Wednesday 11th December. The Prime Minister was later welcomed at the Presidential Palace by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan where the two leaders then held a bilateral meeting accompanied by their respective delegations.

On the same day, Ethiopia and Somalia have reached an agreement following Turkish-mediated negotiations in Ankara, marking a breakthrough to resolve misunderstandings between the two nations.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan hosted the talks between Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.

Following the conclusion of agreement, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud issued a joint statement.

Accordingly, both leaders emphasized cooperation and dialogue between the two countries.

According to them, both parties committed to “resolutely move forward in cooperation towards common prosperity” while ensuring Ethiopia’s access to the sea.
