PM Abiy Ahmed meets with UN Secretary General António Guterres

Addis Ababa, October 21, 2024 (FBC) – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) has met and held a discussion with the United Nations Secretary General António Guterres this morning, the Ethiopian Prime Minister said in a post on his social media page.

“I am pleased to welcome United Nations Secretary General António Guterres to Ethiopia and had the pleasure of receiving him this morning at my office,” premier Abiy noted.

He confirmed that their discussion covered various regional and multilateral issues.

Note that the UN Secretary-General António Guterres arrived in Addis Ababa last night. He was welcomed at Bole International Airport by State Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, Ambassador Birtukan Ayano, and UN Deputy Secretary-General, Amina J. Mohammed.

During his stay in Ethiopia, Guterres will participate in the annual meeting of United Nations and African Union leaders. Additionally, he is expected to inaugurate the renovated headquarters of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa.
