PM Abiy Ahmed extends congratulatory message on 126th anniversary Adwa Victory
Addis Ababa, March 1, 2022 (FBC) – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has extended his congratulatory message on the 126th Anniversary of the Victory of Adwa.
“We are lucky to celebrate the Victory of Adwa that marks the bravery and resistance of our foremothers and forefathers against slavery and oppression,” he said.
“Adwa Vitory is not the day of independence for Ethiopians; rather it is day that marks the struggle we were engaged in to safeguard our freedom,” the Premier noted.
Prime Minister Abiy underscored that the Adwa Victory inspired Africans and peoples of Asia and the Latin America to break chains of slavery and drive out budens of colonialism. The victory also reshaped the misguided narratives between the white and black people by glorifying the black people on the global arena, he said.
Ethiopians defeated poverty, backwardness and division at the battle of Adwa so that the now Ethiopia will feel pride with its daughters and sons who are campaigning against such three enemies towards realization of prosperous nation, Prime Minister Abiy underlined.
This is the time we, Ethiopians celebrate the Adwa Victory at platforms of the prosperous Ethiopia with unity in diversity, he added.
