PM Abiy Ahmed extends best wishes on Timket festival
Addis Ababa, January 18, 2022 (FBC) – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed extended best wishes to faithful over the celebration of Timket festival (Ethiopian Epiphany) which commemorates the Baptism of Jesus Christ in River Jordan.
The Premier noted that the baptism of Jesus Christ in the River Jordan by John the Baptist is one of the phenomenon in which God manifested his true love for humankind.
Jesus Christ manifested his love, humility and respect for humankind in being baptized in the River Jordan, the Premier underlined.
Prime Minister Abiy called on Ethiopians to show forgiveness, love and humility for fellow compatriots in order to preserve dignity of the nation.
He added that the way Ethiopians celebrate Timket enables Ethiopia to be seen by the world uniquely. Timket Festival adorns Ethiopia very well, Prime Minister Abiy indicated.
Many faithful and visitors from all over the world flock to Ethiopia to attend the Timket, he said adding that the festival is one of the intangible heritages of the country apart from its religious significance.
The Prime Minister further called on Ethiopians to engage in tourism activities in the sideline of the festival to attract more tourists and support the economic sector.
