Over 779,000 students in the capital benefit from school meals program: Agency
Addis Ababa, January 17, 2024 (FBC) – Addis Abeba City Administration School Feeding Agency disclosed that more than 779 thousand students in the Ethiopian capital have benefited from the School Feeding Program in the last six months.
Ms. Shitaye Mohammed, the director-general of the agency, affirmed that during the last half-year of the current Ethiopian fiscal year, diverse activities have been implemented in schools to assist individuals within the community requiring support.
In that regard, pupils in Addis Ababa from pre-school to the 8th grade have been provided with school meals service twice a day to facilitate their unhindered engagement in academic pursuits, she said.
For this reason, some 779 thousand 231 students have benefited from the program during the aforementioned period, the Director-General told Fana Broadcasting Corporate’s Malaku Gedif.
In addition to the provisioning of the school meals services, those students were provided with school attire and other learning resources, Ms. Shitaye confirmed.
She also entreated investors and pertinent stakeholders to actively participate in bolstering the program, aiming to augment the scope of the school meals service in Addis Ababa.
