Over 250 scientists from 34 nations explore Addis Ababa for Lucy’s 50th Discovery Anniversary

Addis Ababa, August 1, 2024 (FBC) – In celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Lucy’s discovery, over 250 scientists from 34 countries have gathered in Ethiopia and have taken the opportunity to explore various attractions in Addis Ababa.

Among the sites they visited are the Adewa Memorial Museum, Friendship Park, and the Ethiopian National Museum. Participants expressed to the media that their experiences in the capital city deepened their appreciation for Ethiopia’s rich ancient history and vibrant cultural heritages.

Abebaw Ayalew, the Director General of the Authority for Research and Conservation of Cultural Heritages (ARCCH), informed the visiting scientists that Ethiopia is home to 12 cultural and natural UNESCO World Heritage sites.
