Oromia region plants 4bln best coffee seedlings in 4 years
Addis Ababa, October 13, 2022 (FBC) – Oromia regional state administration confirms that it planted over 4 billion best coffee seedlings with the initiative of “Neqemte Coffee Declaration”.
The head of state of Oromia region, Shimelis Abdisa, claimed that the coffee plantation initiative has increased the export volume of the product of Ethiopia.
Following the introduction of the “Nekemete Coffee Declaration” by the regional administration four years ago, over 4 billion best coffee seedlings were planted, Shemlis said via his twitter page.
Ethiopia earned 1.42 billion USD from the 300,000 tons of coffee it exported to the foreign market in 2021/22 fiscal year.
This is an increase of 21 percent or 48,000 tons compared to the income of the preceding fiscal year.
In the 2022/23 fiscal year, Ethiopia is expected to earn 2 billion USD from coffee exports.
