Oromia region, Addis Ababa express gratitude to stakeholders over peaceful celebration of Irreechaa
Addis Ababa, October 7, 2023 (FBC) – The chief administrator of Oromia region, Mr. Shimels Abdissa, and the Mayor of Addis Ababa city, Ms. Adanech Abibie, have extended gratitude to all stakeholders involved in shouldering the responsibility to preserve the traditional value of Hora-Finfinnee Irreechaa festival and the peaceful celebration of the event in the capital city.
Attended by millions of people from Oromia region and other oparts of Ethiopia, this year’s Hora-Finfinnee Irreechaa festival was celebrated peacefully and with splendor, preserving its values and customes, a statement from Joint Secutiy Task Force confirmed.
For this reason, Mr. Shimels Abdissa noted that today’s peaceful and colorful celebration of Irreechaa festival has demonsrated that it is a moment of thanksgiving, reconciliation, forgiveness, love, peace and unity and farternity.
He said, “It is a great pride for our region and our country that millions of people from home and abroad participated in it and that it ended peacefully. It attested to the world that our people love peace and that our culture and values give great importance to peace.”
The regional administrator thanked Abbaa Gadaas, Haadha Sinqees, the youth, and the entire Oromo people for discharging responsibilities for peaceful celebration of the festival and in preserving the tradition and values of Irreechaa.
Shimels further expressed his gratitude to the leadership of Addis Ababa city administration and all the residents of the capital, people of other ethnicities, foreign nationals attending the festival as well as the security bodies of the federal government, Addis Ababa city administration and Oromia region at all levels for ensuring a peaceful celebration of the event without any security issues.
Moreover, Irreechaa is not only a festival of thanksgiving, reconciliation, forgiveness, peace and love, but also a platform where unity and fraternity can be strengthened, the chief administrator noted.
He urged the stakeholders to maintain their unconditional efforts in ensuring the successful and peaceful celebration of Hora-Harsade Irreechaa festival which will be celebrated in Bishoftu town tomorrow morning.
Similarly, the Mayor of Addis Ababa, Adanech Abiebie, thanked all the relevant stakeholders who contributed to the peaceful conclusion of Hora-Finfinnee Irreechaa festival.
The mayor emphasized that the spirit of unity, solidarity and fraternity that was demonsrated in Irreechaa festival today should be replicated in other fields of undertakings.
Reminding that Addis Ababa city observed a colorful festival which highlighted the values of Irreechaa, she acknowledged that the residents of the capital have also accorded a warm hospitality to the guests.
