Ten people killed in Gondar Epiphany celebration

Addis Ababa, January 21, 2020 (FBC) –Ten people were killed when a seating area collapsed yesterday during Epiphany celebration in Gondar city, Amhara regional state.

“The accident has left a total of 250 people injured and ten of them died after they were admitted to the hospital,” said  Dr Ashenafi Tazebe, a Medical Director at Gondar University Referral Hospital.

He said majority of those admitted for care have left hospital after receiving aid.

However, 80 people are still in the hospital, he added.

According to him, 13 of them were injured seriously and they need a lengthy medical care.
