New curriculum to come into force in all secondary schools in upcoming season – MoE
Addis Ababa, August 25, 2023 (FBC) – The Ministry of Education of Ethiopia (MoE) confirmed that the new education curriculum will be implemented in all public and private secondary schools starting from the upcoming academic year.
Thewodros Shewarget, Head of Department of Curriculum Development at the Ministry, disclosed that the new curriculum will take effect in all public and private schools in all regions of the country, except for international and foreign community schools.
He also announced that the curriculum will be fully implemented in all subjects in secondary schools, except for technical and vocational subjects.
Technical and vocational subjects will come into effect from 202024/25 academic season (in 2017 Ethiopian Year), Thewodros said.
The official has called on the stakeholders of the sector to discharge responsibilities and exceed their expectations for the effectiveness of the new curriculum.
It is known that the new curriculum has been implemented in primary schools in most parts of the country since the 2015 Ethiopian calendar year (the previous academic year).
