NDC holds virtual discussion with members of the Diaspora in North America
Addis Ababa, January 15, 2024 (FBC) – The Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission (NDC) convened a virtual discourse with constituents of the Ethiopian Diaspora residing in the United States of America and Canada on Sunday afternoon.
The virtual deliberation focused on examining the potential involvement and support from members of the Diaspora and individuals of Ethiopian lineage residing across various regions globally in the national dialogue process, the Commission said a social media post published with a picture showing virtual meetings with the Ethiopian Diaspora residing in North America.
During the discussion, Professor Mesfin Araya, the Chief Commissioner of NDC, underscored the significance of engaging in discussions and attaining a collective agreement on matters of national importance, even if we hold differing views, for the betterment of the nation.
The Chief Commissioner further urged members of the Diaspora and individuals of Ethiopian descent to actively and positively contribute to the national consultation process, with the aim of achieving a shared consensus.
He additionally elucidated the fundamental notion of national discourse, the methodology employed by the commission, and the primary endeavors it has undertaken thus far.
It was also noted that diverse recommendations were put forth by the participants regarding the manner in which the Commission can collaborate with members of the Ethiopian diaspora residing in the U.S. and Canada.
