Nationalities Day will be observed to promote values ​​of equality, solidarity: HoF

Addis Ababa, November 13, 2023 (FBC) – The FDRE House of Federation (HoF) disclosed that the 18th Ethiopian Nations, Nationalities and Peoples’ Day (Ethiopia Day) will be celebrated with various events that promote the values ​​of equality and solidarity while cementing national unity.

The Speaker of House of Federation, Mr. Agegnehu Teshager, briefing the media regarding the celebration of the occasion, reminded that this year’s event will be observed in Jigjiga city, Somali region, with the theme: “Diversity and Equality for National Unity”.

Though the closing event will be colorfully celebrated in Jigjiga city, the occasion will be observed in all the regional states across Ethiopia with various events on Saturday 9 December 2023, the Upper House Speaker confirmed.

He said that preparations are being made to celebrate occasion with events that promote the values ​​of equality and solidarity while maintaining national unity.

Ahead of the nationalities and peoples’ day on 9 December, the preceding week will be celebrated with various events: December 5 as “Fraternity Day”, December 6 as “Diversity Day”, December 7 as “Solidarity Day”, December 8 as “Unity Day”, and December 9 as “Ethiopia Day”, Agegnehu underscored.

It is to be remembered that last year’s “Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples’ Day” was colorfully celebrated in Hawasa, Sidama region, with various enchanting events in the presence of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD), regional chief administrators, ministers, other high-level government officials, diplomats of various countries, and representatives of all regions and ethnicities throughout Ethiopia.
