National clean cities initiative pivotal to boost investment
Addis Ababa, June 19, 2024 (FBC) – Apart from making Ethiopian cities and towns more livable, the National clean cities initiative will help to increase the participation of entrepreneurs in the investment activities of the country, Belayeh Kindie, a local investor said.
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed weeks ago unveiled plans to construct modern, clean and dignified public restrooms, with a strong emphasis on community involvement in their construction.
The initiative, named ‘Clean Ethiopia,’ includes a fundraising component under the theme ‘Clean Cities – Healthy Lives.’
A digital telethon movement that was launched following Prime Minister Abiy’s call for the implementation of the project managed to collect more than 154 million birr far exceeding the original plan to collect 50 million birr.
The renowned Ethiopian entrepreneur and investor, Belayneh Kindie said after launching of the national reform program various projects which have been benefiting the country are being constructed.
He added that projects initiated by Prime Minister Abiy including Dine for the Nation and Dine for Sheger and the recently launched Clean Ethiopia campaign have a greater national value for the development of the country.
Clean Ethiopia campaign will help to produce healthy and productive workforce in the country, he added.
Belayneh further remarked that the environment created by the project will help to lure foreign investors into the country.
He noted that the campaign will also encourage local entrepreneurs to produce healthy and quality products.
Belayneh recalled that his company was among the first firms that responded to the call of the premier by providing financial support, as reported by ENA.
His company has also been actively participating in mega projects such as the construction of GERD and Dine for the Nation Projects by rendering financial contributions, Belayneh said pledging to continue support to projects with national significance.
