MoWSA Minister welcomes Saudi Ambassador, discussed bilateral issues
Addis Ababa, September 14, 2022, (FBC) – Ergogie Tesfaye (PhD), Minister of Women and Social Affairs, welcomed and held talks with the newly appointed Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Fahad Alhumaydani (PhD), in her office.
Minister Ergogie, congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment and recalled glory of the long-standing, historical relationship between the two nations, which has been firmly established by government-to-government and people-to-people ties over the centuries.
She stressed the importance of further strengthening such diplomatic relations.
She also explained the Ministry’s roles and responsibility mentioning the main focus area of social protections such as children, women, the elderly, citizens with disability and destitute people.
During the discussion, she further explained about humanitarian aid for internally displaced people and the challenges of Ethiopian repatriates from Saudi Arabia that could need further discussion on how the two nations can manage to create conducive environment, especially, women and children.
The Minister expressed her desire for the consolidation and strengthening of bilateral relations between the Ethiopia and Saudi Arabia.
Fahad Alhumaydani (PhD), in his part, expressed that the solid foundation for bilateral relationship and partnership of both countries was laid long time ago.
Since there is strong relationship between the two countries, this has to be boosted and cooperating for the development two nations, the Ambassador noted.
Concerning Ethiopians living in Saudi Arabia and the repatriation of Ethiopian citizens who are not legally allowed to work there will be supported discussing with concerned body, he said.
