MoWSA, ILO agree to forge cooperation in advancing social justice, decent jobs
Addis Ababa, December 5, 2023 (FBC) – The Ministry of Women and Social Affairs of Ethiopia (MoWSA) and the International Labor Organization (ILO) agreed today to further strengthen cooperation on multifaceted initiatives.
This was revealed after the meeting between Minister of MoWSA, Ms. Ergogie Tesfaye, and ILO Regional Director for Africa, Ms. Fanfan Rwanyindo, to identify areas of collaboration.
It is stated that the two officials agreed to strengthen ongoing initiatives on youth development, gender equality, and social protection to advance social justice as well as decent work.
Ethiopia’s 100th anniversary of ILO membership is being celebrated this week in Addis Ababa with a National Labor Conference. Marking Ethiopia’s century-long membership with the UN agency, the National Labour Conference is being held under the theme: “Advancing Social Justice though Social Dialogue and Enhanced Productivity.”
The event is organized by ILO, in collaboration with its tripartite partners such as the Ministry of Labor and Skills, Confederation of Ethiopian Trade Unions (CETU), and Confederation of Ethiopian Employers Association (CEEA).
At the opening of the National Labor Conference, ILO, MoLS, CETU, and CEEA pledged their commitment to advancing Social Justice through Social Dialogue and Enhanced Productivity for the next 100 years in Ethiopia.
