MoWE Minister confers with UNICEF Deputy Executive Director

Addis Ababa, December 6, 2023 (FBC) – Ethiopia’s Minister of Water and Energy, Habtamu Itefa discussed with Deputy Executive Director, Partnerships, of UNICEF, Ms. Kitty van der Heijden and her delegation on the sidelines of COP28 in Dubai, UAE.

During their discussion, the Minister thanked UNICEF for its response in providing support to the Ministry’s efforts to curb drinking water shortage which occurred due to natural and man-made factors in different regions in the country.

In addition, they also exchanged views on how UNICEF can continue supporting the Ministry’s undertakings, such as managing safety of water bodies, the green legacy program endeavors, renewable energy development and drinking water, especially developing alternative drinking water projects through the “Dam at my Door” rainwater harvesting initiative and well water in drought-prone areas.
