MoSHE to start online classes for postgraduate students

Addis Ababa, April 21, 2020 (FBC) –The Ministry of Science and Higher Education (MoSHE), in partnership with Ethio-telecom, is set to start online courses to postgraduate students.

The move comes due to the closure of universities and schools to halt the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in the country.

The latest decision was made following consultations held with presidents of universities, said the Ministry in a statement posted on its official Facebook page.

The Ministry said it has directed universities that are giving graduate classes to prepare the necessary documents and resources needed to resume the teaching-learning process.

According to the statement, higher education institutions need to facilitate platforms that could help postgraduate students to discuss with their advisors through video conference.

The Ministry is currently in talks with Ethio-telecom to develop websites and applications which can be accessed by the students and teachers free of charges.

It is noted that MoSHE has no plans to resume classes for first-degree students.
