More than 8.3 million people receive first round humanitarian aid since peace agreement: NDRMC
Addis Ababa, December 20, 2022 (FBC) – The National Disaster Risk Management Commission (NDRMC) stated that more than 8.3 million people have received first round humanitarian assistance since the Pretoria Peace agreement was signed.
NDRMC Commissioner, Ambassador Shiferaw Teklemariam discussed with representatives of international partners and donors on areas of priority in the relief operation process.
It is stated on the occasion that humanitarian assistance is being delivered steadfastly to people affected by the conflict in Amhara, Tigray and Afar regions.
The Commissioner elaborated that 8 million 358 thousand196 people have received first round humanitarian assistance since the Preatoria Peace agreement was signed between the federal government and TPLF.
Currently, 29 international relief organizations are involving in relief operation in Tigray region, according to the Commissioner who expressed gratitude to aid agencies and doners for the unfettered humanitarian support.
According to NDRMC’s Communication Director, Debebe Zewdie, the Commission has called on international partners and donors to expedite delivery of needed medical supplies, medicines and therapeutic foods to war-affected areas in the country.
