More than 40,000 runners participate in the 2022 Grand Ethiopian Run
Addis Ababa, November 20, 2022 (FBC) – Ethiopian, Kenyan, and Eritrean athletes and other members of society participated in the 2022 Grand Ethiopian Run, held in Addis Ababa.
More than 40,000 runners have reportedly participated in the 22nd edition of grand Ethiopian athletics event on Sunday morning in the Capital.
The FDRE President, Sahle-Work Zewde, Minister of Culture and Sports, Kejela Merdasa, and Mayor of Addis Ababa, Adanech Abiebie, were present at the launch ceremony of the race, along with other senior government officials, invited guests, tourists, legendary world athletes and participants of the race.
The first edition of the Great Ethiopian Run was held in Ethiopia in 2002, spearheaded by the iconic Ethiopian long distance runner, Haile Gebresellasie.
The Great Ethiopian Run is the largest street race in Africa and the sixth in the world.
This 10 kilometers grand running event started and ended at Mesqel Square, Addis Ababa.
