More than 1.4 million people receive AstraZeneca vaccine in Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, May 16, 2021 (FBC) – Ministry of Health announced that more than 1.4 million people have received AstraZeneca vaccine in Ethiopia.

Coordinator of Vaccination programs at the Ministry of Health, Yohannes Lakew said the government is working to increase access of the vaccination in all regions as number of people who took AstraZeneca vaccine reached over 1 Million.

Nation could not begin the vaccine rollout in all regions the same time due preparations needed related to preoperational trainings and logistics, he said.

It took the country 15-20 days to reach all target areas through the existing 6,000 health care stations situated in 20,000 localities in more than 1,000 Woredas of the country.
