MoPD Minister, GGGI Assistant DG discuss deepening climate partnership
Addis Ababa, April 16, 2024 (FBC) – Fitsum Assefa, Minister of Planning and Development of Ethiopia, had a productive meeting with the Global Green Growth institute (GGGI’s) Assistant Director General, Kyung Nam Shin, and his team on his mission to Ethiopia.
Minister Fitsum appreciated GGGI’s cordial and strong relationship with the Government of Ethiopia particularly in areas of technical support to achieving the government ambitious goal of transitioning to climate resilient green economy path.
In their discussion, climate finance mechansims forestry sustainable livelihood sustainable cities and other topics were touched.
Fitsum communicated a clear message to the institute to further deepen its partnership and serve as a leading platform for new and innovative climate change topics.
Dr. Shin in his turn mentioned the newly launched SAFE initiatives and optimistic efforts that GGGI is implementing to contribute to the dynamisms of reducing the impacts of climate.
SAFE initiative endeavors to Scale-up Agriculture and Food systems for Economic development in Africa and the Middle East and aims to benefit millions of people whose livelihoods are threatened by the climate crisis.
