MoIL hands over 900 water pumps to Oromia region

Addis Ababa, December 7, 2022 (FBC) – The FDRE Ministry of Irrigation and Lowlands (MoIL) handed over 900 water pumps on Wednesday to Oromia region amid efforts to ensure food security through irrigation-based winter agricultural activities.

Minister of Irrigation and Lowlands, Aisha Mohammed, handed over the water pumps to Oromia region chief administrator, Shimelis Abdisa.

Minister Aisha, while handing over the water pumps, said that the water pumps will pivotal to the region’s winter wheat cultivation

She affirmed that such assistances and backing will continue to be strengthened.

Oromia region president, Shimelis Abdisa, thanked MoIL for the provision of the support.

He said that the water pumps are of great significance and life-changing for the farmers and pastoralists in Oromia region.

Minister of State for Irrigation Department, Berhanu Lenjiso, said that MoIL has provided about 4,000 water pumps to all regions and the two city administrations so far.
