MoFA State Minister confers with the visiting Russian Federation Senator
Addis Ababa, February 3, 2022 (FBC) – State Minister of Minisyry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Redwan Hussein has held talks with Russian Federation Senator and Vice President for International Affairs.
Ambassador Redwan Hussein conveyed a warm welcome to Andrew Klimov, who is on a working visit to Ethiopia, noting that Ethiopia and Russia have been enjoying cordial relations relations are based on long history and mutual benefit.
He also extended gratitude to the Russian government for its support to Ethiopia in education and other fields.
State Minister said Ethiopia is undertaking various activities to fight poverty and ensure sustainable development underlining that the completion of the Renaissance Dam is crucial for this success.
The Russian Federation Senator and Vice President for International Affairs, Andrew Klimov, to his part said that the upcoming Russia-Africa Conference will be held in Moscow and Addis Ababa calling up on African countries to take an active part in the conference.
He added that his country is interested in working together with Ethiopia in education, investment, humanitarian assistance, health and international sectors.
Russia and Ethiopia have enjoyed high level of political cooperation over the past few years. This fact is corroborated by the intense exchange of delegations on different levels in recent times. The arrival of the Senator of the Russian Federation Andrey A. Klimov in Addis Ababa is a case in point in this regard.
Revered as a high-level statesman, Klimov is also the Deputy Secretary General of the governing all-Russian party “United Russia”, Chairman of the Party’s Presidium Commission on International Affairs as well as Chairman of the Senatorial Commission for the Protection of the Sovereignty of the Russian Federation.
