MoFA State Minister confers with EU Special Representative for Human Rights

xAddis Ababa, January 24, 2024 (FBC) – Ambassador Mesganu Arga, State Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, conferred with Eamon Gilmore, the EU Special Representative for Human Rights.

During the discussion, Ambassador Mesganu Arga highlighted the significant progress made in finalizing the Transitional Justice Policy, which aims to provide a sustainable resolution to issues in Northern Ethiopia.

The policy focuses on establishing accountability, fostering peace, and enhancing overall security in the region.

The EU Special Representative for Human Rights, Eamon Gilmore, acknowledged Ethiopia’s commitment and emphasized the importance of the full implementation of the Pretoria Peace Agreement.

He stressed the importance of transitional justice and accountability in ensuring lasting peace and stability. The discussion also touched on various regional and international issues.
