MoFA extends condolences to Morocco over the devastating earthquake

Addis Ababa, September 9, 2023 (FBC) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on behalf of the People and Government of Ethiopia, extended its deepest condolences to the victims of the devastating earthquake in Morocco.

In an official statement, MFA Ethiopia said, “We stand in solidarity with the bereaved families and the Moroccan People during this difficult time of grief.”

A strong earthquake of magnitude 6.8 has struck central Morocco, killing at least 820 people, and causing damage in several areas. The epicentre was in the High Atlas Mountains, 71km (44 miles) south-west of Marrakesh, at a depth of 18.5km, the US Geological Survey said.
