Mobile voice services resume in Mekelle, Michew

Addis Ababa, December 13, 2020 (FBC) –Ethio telecom has announced the resumption of mobile voice services in both Mekelle and Michew cities, Tigray regional state.

“Following coordinated and concerted efforts, we have managed to provide mobile voice services in Mekelle city and Maychew,” said the company in a statement yesterday.

Telecom service outage had occurred in the Northern parts of the country as of November 4, following the law enforcement operation carried out in Tigray regional state.

The TPLF clique destroyed infrastructures built in the regional state, including telecommunication systems, transmission lines and power cables.

The company said it is making efforts to rehabilitate all damaged transmission lines and working with Ethiopian Electric Utility to realize full restoration of telecom services in the region.

Ethio telecom had restored service in Dansha, Humera, Maykadra, Turkan, Maytsebri and Korem areas in partial and full-service in Alamata, the statement noted.
