Missions urged to work on overseas employment, accelerate cognate bilateral agreements
Addis Ababa, January 17, 2024 (FBC) – Minister of Labor and Skills (MoLS) Ms. Muferihat Kamil emphasized that Ethiopian missions and embassies stationed in different parts of the world should search for overseas employment for skilled and semi-skilled citizens and accelerate the implementation of the bilateral labor agreements signed with different countries.
The Minister urged the heads of missions during the annual meeting of Ethiopian ambassadors and senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia which deliberated today on overseas employment.
Ms. Muferihat made a detailed presentation on the deep reforms made in skills development, the digitalization of the labor market and expanding overseas employment opportunities.
She stressed that Ethiopia’s overseas missions should search for employment of skilled and semi-skilled labor, fasten the completion of bilateral labor agreements and work for effective implementation of signed ones.
The Minister also noted that soliciting technology transfers and capacity-building programs for the development of skills are also expected from missions, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
