MInT, ZTE join hands to augment cooperation in IT dev’t
Addis Ababa, August 8, 2023 (FBC) – The Ministry of Innovation and Technology of Ethiopia (MInT) signed an agreement with the Chinese ICT solutions provider ZTE Corporation to work in cooperation in the field of ICT development and digital transformation.
The agreement was signed by the Minister of Innovation and Technology, Belete Molla, and Mr. Ye Xiaohan, Vice President of ZTE and President of ZTE Sub-Saharan Africa Region.
It is said that the agreement aims to strengthen cooperation and ensure digital transformation by expanding the ICT development started in Ethiopia and implementing the Digital Ethiopia 2025 strategy.
Accordingly, the Corporation will provide technical support for the development of digital infrastructure planned by the Ministry, ensure technology transfer, and support the creation of jobs and resources, the Ministry disclosed.
The agreement is said to include ICT projects, e-learning platforms and a plan to establish a terminal manufacturing plant in Ethiopia.
The agreement is also expected to provide support for the success of ICT park project in Ethiopia by supporting and participating in the ongoing construction of the Park’s projects.
It is said that ZTE has been supporting telecom infrastructure in Ethiopia since 2005.
